4 Non-Profits To Support This Christmas

December 1, 2015

This past November we sat the kids down and told them we were going to make this holiday season extra special and focus our hearts on giving to others. I seem to think we will do this every year, but with four young children money always seemed to get in the way. I prayed this fall that God would help our whole family catch the vision, that He would show us ministries to partner with, and provide extra freelance work for us to have some wiggle room with our budget. He has been incredibly faithful in not only unleashing tons of work for me, but also opening our eyes to old and new needs around us. Here are 5 organizations that we have either supported in years past and had great relationships with, or they have received ECFA accreditation so that you can be sure your money is going directly to the ones who need it most. Happy giving!!!

I’ve been partnering with Anna (from Love 41) to spread awareness about their incredible leather goods. They donate 100% of their proceeds to Africa New Life Ministries and their bags are amazing. One of their more immediate needs is Dream Daycare.  It was founded 3 years ago by Love 41 and has cared for over 80 children to date.  This isn’t your typical operation as it runs entirely on the support of others.

The Dream Daycare is also unique in that it is linked with Africa New Life’s vocational schools for women who are working to get back on their feet and leave jobs like prostitution.  Before the Dream Daycare, many mothers couldn’t go to school because they didn’t have a safe place for their children or couldn’t afford proper child care. Many were being left at home by themselves in very poor and dangerous living conditions.  So Love 41 founded the Dream Daycare in hopes to care and educate these very children.

Goal 1:  New toys are needed for the daycare. We haven’t replaced them in 3 years.  We’re asking people to buy something via amazon here & ship them to the below address:

Africa New Life Ministries c/o Tina Lytch
123 Terra Cotta
Universal City, TX 78148

Goal 2:  Raise $7,500 for the Daycare.  This can be simple.  25 people pledging to give $25 a month for a year.  This can be done by contacting Love 41 on Facebook or giving directly through Africa New Life Ministries / Dream day care center here.

I’ve been following Keary and Justin’s story for a long time and it’s one worth reading with many layers and twists and turns and heaping amounts of grace, as only the Lord does. They moved to Uganda to adopt and care for their son Ollie’s medical needs, unexpectedly and additionally getting matched with a foster child whom they affectionately call June Bug. Keary and Justin work tirelessly selling items in their etsy shop to fund both adoption costs. My favorite items may be their festive $2 printable wall art for Christmas! Their adoption fund has roughly $5,000 remaining and you can donate directly HERE to bring their June Bug home.

BethanyKids is a compassionate Christian mission transforming the lives of African children with surgical conditions and disabilities through pediatric surgery, rehabilitation, public education, spiritual ministry, and training health professionals. One of their founders spoke at our church many years ago and I was struck by the simplicity and humility of his message. At the time, we barely had anything extra but I knew God was calling me to help this ministry with the little bit we had. They are the most grateful organization, regularly sending thank you notes in the mail. I love their hearts and hope to be apart of their medical team in a bigger way in the future.

You can donate directly HERE.

I have wanted to sponsor a child for years, and this past spring we finally made it happen! Compassion makes it really simple to stay in touch with your child by providing writing paper and an addressed envelope to slip in the mail and me and the kids have so much fun writing to our little boy. This Christmas, you can shop their gift catalog and make a one-time purchase for a needy family or child. Items include things like dental care, chickens, goats, seedlings, newborn care packages, malaria nets, etc. I love this ministry!
