I know that screen time is not for every family, but we use it in our house as a way to supplement the schooners’ education during the week and for entertainment on the weekends. I have pet peeves about when and where and needing a screen to survive appointments and outings with the children, but our youngest is turning into a quite the handful so…never say never!

With our older girls in a language immersion school this year I have been looking for specific apps to compliment their new curriculum. If I see areas where they need improvement I love having repetitive technology or workbooks to give them extra practice – mainly, reading and math!

Because we use screen time sparingly, our kids jump at any chance they get to play games or watch something. (I call it my secret weapon when people ask me how I get anything done with four children.) I am selective about what I download because I find that many things labeled “kids” tends to get dumbed down and annoying. Or is that just me?!

There are a few go-to companies I’ve found who have consistently delivered quality content and gorgeous graphics. Wünderbooks is one of them. They’ve taken the lovely Beatrix Potter stories and brought the characters to life by animating her original artwork. The stories are read by a professional narrator, or you can record your own voice. My kids will sit there happily entertained as they “flip” through the pages of The Animated Tale of Gloucester.

The highlighted text helps Shiloh (my kindergartner) follow along and improve in reading (something we needs lots of work on!) And maybe my favorite part? Soft, classical music plays in the background designed to give these books a calming atmosphere. Thank you, Jesus!

Wünderbooks has graciously offered to give away free download codes to 5 winners and their 3 friends on Instagram. I’m serious when I say you need these sweet books for your schooners. Visit HERE to enter!

I just did a post on educational toddler apps ;)
I agree with you, apps labeled “kids” are either really annoying or pointless or lame looking! This app looks lovely!
